Every renovation tells a story, and sometimes the most exciting part is exploring different design possibilities for the same space. Last year, I worked on renovating a small bathroom and created two drastically different design options. Each carries its own unique charm, offering two contrasting moods for the same layout.

Option 1: Minimal Elegance

The first design embraces simplicity with a single tile finish across all walls. The continuity of material creates a seamless, calming effect, making the small space appear larger and uncluttered.

Above the commode, sleek storage shelves are added — practical yet understated, keeping the look minimal and functional. This option reflects timeless elegance, perfect for those who prefer a subtle and cohesive style.

Option 2: Vibrant Contrast

The second design takes a more playful and expressive approach. Aqua highlighter tiles bring life and freshness to the shower area, instantly catching the eye. The rest of the walls are clad in soft beige tiles, balancing the vibrancy with warmth.

To ground the space, the flooring features wooden-textured tiles, adding a touch of natural cosiness. This option transforms the bathroom into a vibrant retreat, ideal for someone who enjoys colour and personality in their interiors.

Two Designs, One Space

Both options reimagine the same compact bathroom, yet their atmospheres feel entirely different. One is serene and minimal, the other lively and bold. This project highlights how design choices — from tile selection to placement of details — can dramatically shift the mood of a space.
